Guide to GoFilm HK

GoFilm HK shows you what films are playing at cinemas across Hong Kong. Here's how the main bits work.

The three tabs

Showtimes — The main view. A list of what's showing today (or whatever date range you pick), filtered by region, time of day, and language. Tap a film to see all its showtimes.

Films — A browseable list of films currently in HK cinemas, with search. Use the search box to find a specific film — it searches both English and Chinese titles. If the film you're looking for isn't currently showing locally, the search will also surface upcoming releases from TMDB for context.

Cinemas — All Hong Kong cinemas, grouped by region (Hong Kong / Kowloon / New Territories). Tap a cinema to see what's playing there.

Filters on the Showtimes tab

Four rows of pills sit above the films list. Tap to toggle:

Cinema scope

• My Cinemas — the cinemas you've saved
• Near Me — uses your location to sort by proximity
• HK / KLN / NT — all cinemas in that region
• Pick — choose specific cinemas

Date

• Today, Tomorrow, This Week (today through Sunday), Next 7 Days

Time of day (multi-select — pick more than one)

• Day (09:00–17:00), Evening (17:00–21:30), Late (21:30 onwards)

Language (multi-select)

• Eng — anything an English-speaker can follow: spoken English films, or non-Chinese-language films with English subtitles
• Zh (Subs) — Chinese-language films with English subtitles (the killer feature if you're learning Cantonese or want to see local films with subs)
• Zh — anything a Chinese-speaker can follow

Your language preference is remembered between launches. Other filters reset each time you open the app.

Showtime cards

Each showtime row shows the time, format (IMAX, 4DX, ScreenX, etc.) if applicable, and a language chip. Examples:

• EN — English audio
• EN + 中字 — English audio with Chinese subs
• 粵 + ENG — Cantonese audio with English subs
• JP + ENG — Japanese audio with English subs
• RU + ENG — Russian audio with English subs
• And so on for other languages

If you don't see a language chip, the film's language information wasn't available from the cinema.

Finding cinemas near you

In the Cinemas tab, tap Find Cinemas Near Me. If you grant location permission, cinemas are sorted by distance from you. If you don't, you'll get a district picker — choose your district and you'll see the cinemas there.

Saving cinemas

Tap Add on any cinema row in the Cinemas tab to save it. Then under My Cinemas in the Showtimes tab, you'll see only showtimes at your saved cinemas.

Booking tickets

GoFilm HK doesn't sell tickets. Tap a showtime and you'll be taken to the cinema's own booking page. Confirm the showtime there before completing your booking.

GoFilm HK currently covers these cinema chains:

• Bestar
• CGV
• CEL (PLNY Milano)
• Cinema City
• Golden Scene
• Lumen
• Newport (Hyland Theatre)
• HK indies (via hkmovie6)

The same cinema may sometimes use slightly different names than you see on its own website — we use the official names where we know them.

If you spot incorrect data, missing cinemas, missing showtimes, or anything that just looks off, email contact@balsham.cloud. We'll fix it.

Always confirm the showtime with the cinema before travelling — schedules change without notice and our data isn't always fresh by the minute.
